lisbon...the temple....the twins and grafitti boys

hil and i spent a few days in lisbon....to see the work of blu and osgemeos,, the twins at ccb belem......to wander the streets and soak up the atmosphere and generally keep our eyes open ...for more street art......and quirky things.......we arrived in lisbon around lunchtime and headed for downtown sul where we always stay its right next to the theatre in rossio......then straight into the brazilian buffet around the corner for picanha and black beans.....first stop the faille temple.......absolutely gobsmacked....what appears to be an ancient temple standing in the avenida.....it is amazing...a mixture of ancient greek...roman....pop art....elgin marbles and more have a look @ the photos and our little video..

.then we went upto marquis de pombal to find the blu paintings.....here are a couple of stills.

BLU and OSGEMEOS in LISBOA

then we went off to the ccb in belem ...i houses the barado collection...an enormous gallery that has some fantastic shows.....its like an iceberg.....its bigger underground.....it is big ......at ccb os gemeos had a huge installation of doors and small objects peopled by their characters....plus a fantastic mirrored sound room which was magical....

here is part of the osgemeos installation @ccb

what a surprise two caravans one at the cccb and the other at the guggenheim......something that im interested in pursuing myself as a part of the saramago mural ideas

and then some wallpaintings come collages by vhils aka alexander farto that are in a solicitors office in lisbon

next stop glorias elevator where there is a grafitti wall sponcored by jc decaux......by chance we came upon a small shop that sold specialist spray paints for grafitti artists...we met the owner a guy that in fact runs the wall and chooses the artists.......after a good conversation we said goodbye.....he stopped us ...went back into the shop and gave me a boxed set of cards for the past few years paintings on the wall.....what an amazing present to be given....and here they are sitting outside the shop....there is a bench....if its shut you can wait in comfort..
